Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

1. Purpose of the Platform

Zaijat is a matrimonial platform for Muslims seeking marriage (nikah) in accordance with the Qur'an and Sunnah as understood by Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamā'ah. It is not a dating service, a social network, or a chatting app. By creating an account you affirm that your sincere intention is marriage.

2. Eligibility — Age & Identity

You must be:

  • At least 18 years of age. Registration by or on behalf of anyone under 18 is strictly prohibited.
  • A Muslim sincerely seeking nikah.
  • Providing truthful, accurate information throughout your profile.

Misrepresentation — including falsified age, false marital status, false piety, or impersonating another person — is grounds for permanent removal and may be reported to authorities where relevant.

3. Conduct & Islamic Etiquette

Members must conduct themselves with Islamic etiquette at all times. The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Requesting, soliciting, or sharing photos of sisters (or brothers) through the platform.
  • Attempting to establish private communication channels (WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.) before a match is made and contact has been formally revealed.
  • Any form of harassment, abusive language, or intimidation.
  • Soliciting for purposes other than marriage (commercial offers, recruitment, etc.).
  • Creating multiple accounts or returning after removal.
  • Disclosing another member's information to third parties.

Brothers are expected to involve a wali (guardian) or family elder once contact is revealed. Sisters are encouraged to have their wali involved from the outset.

4. Interests & Matching

When both parties independently accept the same interest, contact details are exchanged and the in-app interest closes by design — preventing ongoing unchaperoned correspondence through the platform.

The platform plays no role in, and accepts no legal responsibility for, agreements made between families after contact is revealed. Due diligence, character references, and the Shari'ah process of khitbah remain the responsibility of the parties and their families.

5. Reporting & Moderation

All members have a responsibility to report suspicious, deceptive, or un-Islamic behaviour. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. Substantiated violations result in warning, suspension, or permanent removal depending on severity. We retain moderation records to prevent re-registration.

6. Account Termination

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms, with or without prior notice, to protect the community. You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings; this permanently removes your profile from the feed.

7. Limitation of Liability

Zaijat is a platform, not a matchmaking agency. We provide tools and a verified community; we do not guarantee a match, a nikah, or any particular outcome. The platform is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the 3 months preceding the claim, if any.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation; unresolved disputes may be referred to the courts of England and Wales.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

We verify profiles to the best of our ability, but the duty of due diligence before nikah rests with the parties and their families — asking about character, requesting references, and involving the wali, as the Shari'ah requires. We make no representation as to the truthfulness of any user-submitted information beyond what our verification process covers.
